Ovarian Cysts
Ovarian cysts most often look like tiny sacs that are filled with fluid and develop on or inside the ovaries. They affect many women at some point during their lives, but most are harmless and go away on their own. But sometimes these cysts grow larger or begin to cause pain, bloating, menstrual irregularities, nausea, etc. They can even cause infertility. In some cases, an ovarian cyst can burst (rupture), causing severe pain and pelvic bleeding requiring immediate medical attention. Rarely they may create ovarian torsion, causing severe pain. Ovarian torsion is also a medical emergency and requires quick surgical intervention to save the ovary.
It is important to investigate ovarian cysts that are causing pain or bleeding to determine their location and cause. Sometimes less common cysts can turn out to be serious and require surgery. If you have ovarian cysts that are causing issues, we can help you identify the best form of treatment to eliminate the cyst or relieve your symptoms.
